Year 13 Food
PREREQUISITES: None
OUTLINE:
As a launch year for the Food and Nutrition at John McGlashan College this programme will include a crash course in kitchen skills including knife work and safe food production. The focus will be centred on being able to produce high quality dishes, extend students’ repertoire of dishes they can prepare and introduce a broad range of flavours. It will also consider the nutritional value of food and practice the art of menu planning for a range of people’s needs. All of the credits offered in this course will be hospitality industry unit standards.
Costs:
Each year level is charged $255/year, (Approx $70 for ITO standards and balance on ingredients)

ASSESSMENT
Assessment is 100% written short answer open book assessment.
This is a unit standards based course and as such credits can not be gained at Merit or Excellence level.
