12 Credits of Level 1 Chemistry or Science, including Sci 1.5 (90944) Acids & Bases, with at least 8 credits from Externals. Maths 1.2 (90127) Algebra. COURSE CONTENT
Chemistry at Year 12 requires boys to develop skills in:- Communication, Numeracy, Information handling, Problem solving, Self-management, Social skills, Co-operation, Experimental Design, Study skills Students who participate satisfactorily during the course will develop knowledge and understanding of: Properties and changes of matter
ASSESSMENTThere are three internal Achievement Standards offered at Year 12 and Students progress towards their externally examined achievement standards will be monitored through in-class formative assessments and end of topic tests.
FUTURE STUDIES / CAREER OPTIONS
Chemistry is a prerequisite subject for many courses at Polytechnic and University for example, engineering, physical education, physiotherapy, dentistry, geology, pharmacy and medicine. The possibilities for chemistry graduates are almost infinite….. anyone who wished to follow a career in the sciences or a science related field should consider including chemistry as a part of their senior studies. |
