Year 12 Physical EducationPREREQUISITES:
12 credits Level 1 Phys Ed COURSE CONTENT
NCEA Level 2 Physical Education is a course that builds on the experiences of the Level One course. This is not a subject which should be undertaken by those looking for a “soft option”. It should be stated though, that clear linking between theoretical and practical aspects of Physical Education are often a good motivator for quality student participation and application. Most work is of a theoretical nature before looking at its application to different sporting contexts. There are practicals in the following areas: athletics, skiing, and climbing, among other things. This course covers a wide variety of practical experiences which draws information from the theoretical aspects of Physical Education. It enables students to gain knowledge and skills within a broad range of contexts. COSTS: Approximately $600. Boys complete a three day ski camp in Wanaka for their NCEA level 2 practical, and they also complete five rock climbing sessions which culminate in a practical assessment and an NCEA risk assessment standard.
