COURSE CONTENT
This course introduces students to some fundamental concepts of digital information, digital media and computer science through the use of engaging applications, and activities such as the creation of 2-D Animation and computer game development. Following the introductory phase of the course students will then engage in project based tasks where there will be a degree of choice as to the nature of their digital outputs. Content Content is hands on experiential learning, working with a range of computer applications. It is intended to provide a broad general grounding in digital technology. Topics are selected from the following:
ASSESSMENT
The course is primarily internally assessed. With two possible externally assessed standards examined toward the end of the school year via DCAT.
FUTURE STUDIES / CAREER OPTIONS
In this country right now, there are SHORTAGES of suitably qualified New Zealanders in many of the careers involving digital technologies. Therefore this is a starting point for a senior course leading towards further study in computer science, digital graphics, multimedia production and web design or similar. Successfully undertaking this course will fulfil pre-requisite entry conditions to the level two digital technologies course. |
