Very good grasp of the concepts of the Year 10 mathematics course OUTCOMES:
A student completing this course should be able to:- ● Demonstrate mathematical skills, concepts and understanding in the Mathematical Processes, Number, Measurement, Geometry, Algebra and Statistics curriculum strands. ● Apply these skills, concepts, and understanding to familiar and unfamiliar problems arising in real and simulated situations. ● Demonstrate the ability to select and use appropriate mathematical techniques in problem solving. ● Demonstrate the ability to reason logically and systematically. ● Demonstrate the ability to communicate mathematical ideas. COURSE CONTENT
The course consists of five/six Achievement Standards which contribute 17 to 22 credits towards Level 1 NCEA (depending on the maths ability of the student). Two or three of these Achievement Standards are internally assessed and one standard is externally assessed during the year. ASSESSMENT
FUTURE STUDIES / CAREER OPTIONS
This course leads onto the Level 2 Mathematics Internal or the Level 2 Mathematics course at year 12. Students do however have to achieve the specified prerequisites to move onto Level 2, this is in no way automatic. |
