Minimum 12 Credits at Level One Digital Technology or by negotiation with HOD COURSE CONTENT
This course expands upon the concepts of digital information, digital media and computer science from Level 1. It is primarily project based, with students engaging in developing digital outcomes in a range of areas. Many digital technologies are now accessed and delivered via the internet. For example those digitally literate citizens among us now conduct banking online or socialise using web sites like Facebook. This course allows students to develop their skills and knowledge in the creation and use of such dynamically linked web portals. Additionally students learn to create and program web based applications using a scripting language. ASSESSMENT
FUTURE STUDIES / CAREER OPTIONS
In this country right now, there are SHORTAGES of suitably qualified New Zealanders in many of the careers involving Digital Technologies. Therefore this serves as further development of skills and understanding towards higher level study in computer science, digital graphics, multimedia production and web design or similar. Successfully undertaking this course will fulfil pre-requisite entry conditions to the Level 3 Digital Technologies course. |
