Year 13 English - TransitionalPREREQUISITES:
Students must have gained at least 10 credits from Level 2 English or Level Two Transitional English OUTCOMES
This course is builds on the skills developed in Level Two Transitional English. It will contain a majority of level three credits with two Level Two Achievement Standard that contributes to U.E. Literacy. There will be an emphasis on developing practical literacy skills to develop a sound level of reading, writing, speaking and listening competency to take into the workforce or tertiary education. This course is NOT an approved subject for Level Three. This means it is not one of the THREE courses that a student needs to achieve at least 14 credits in, in order to achieve University Entry. It is also important to note that this course as a whole cannot be endorsed with Merit or Excellence., nor will it allow students to meet all the UE literacy requirements. This course enables students to continue to develop competent literary skills, whilst having less of an emphasis on literary analysis than standard Level Three English Students who participate satisfactorily in this course will improve in their ability to: ● Use language competently in a variety of forms; ● Demonstrate the skills needed to successfully enter the workforce; ● Use language confidently in a variety of social and work situations. UE LITERACY
This course does not allow students to gain all the necessary UE Literacy credits, but does offer 4 UE Literacy Reading Credits and 6 UE Writing Credits. Details of UE requirements can be found at www.nzqa.govt.nz and can be discussed with Mr Schaumann. FUTURE STUDIES / CAREER OPTIONS
